Game Preview 15:Alan Wake

Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios
Platform Available: PC, Xbox 360
Release date: TBA

From the fellows at Microsoft, comes another psychological action thriller game, Alan Wake, which is of the same name as the character whom you will be playing as in this game. You will just need to turn your eyes at the recently released Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth to know what Alan Wake is all about. In fact, Alan Wake will put its focus heavily on the storytelling part, which works much like a season of television series. Alan Wake will introduce players to the world of Alan, and keep it as thrilling as possible to make sure that the game is engaging. Of course, being engaging is only possible when there is a touch of mystery and eeriness, which is highly evident in the game from the start. According to reports, Alan Wake begins by flashing a number of creepy images at the players, all the while with logos drifting in and out of view. Then, it shows Alan at a mountain top. Needless to say, Alan Wake allows players to explore the vast environments and interact with folks. To ensure that the game feels realistic enough, the developers have also kept the interface simple, with just a task bar in the lower left-hand corner of the screen displaying Alan’s current mission.

Players have come to expect good graphics from every game that is released in this age, and fortunately, Alan Wake will continue the tradition. Being a psychological action thriller game, it is essential for the visuals to be sharp and detailed so that every expression, every shadow can be captured, and Alan Wake does not disappoint. Audio can be described as to be on the bright side too, and at the same time, helps build the suitable atmosphere for the game. Overall, Alan wake injects a refreshing style and originality into the stagnant first-person genre. As the game nears its release date, more information will become available, so just remember to check back.
